- How is the challenge of making stakeholders feel welcome to your school (or place of work) connected to your school mission?
On top of feeling lucky we also require parents to tour the school/program before they are able to enroll their child. During this tour they meet our PTSA group, the principal, other parents, 4th and 5th grade student ambassadors, and some teachers. They are taken to a variety of classrooms where they get to see students in action, practicing the target language. Everything about their experience sets them up to feel wanted and welcomed by everyone that they encounter.
- What did you do to assess which stakeholder group (or subgroup) could be more effectively welcomed? And what did you find?
- Future Sphere of Influence: What would you do to improve welcoming this group if you were the school leader?
- Current Sphere of Influence: What can you do in your present position to enhance welcoming these stakeholders?
- I would like to have staff contests- I want to start with a contest to see who can recognize other staff’s baby pictures. The person who get the most right gets a pat on the back and a round of applause.
- Secret valentine/ secret santa
- I want to collect information from staff and have others guess who that person is.
- staff picnic in the summer to get to know each other better and meet new staff.
- I will do the staff picture contest that I described above.
- I will smile and say hi to others as I walk through the halls.
- I will try to compliment at least one student who is in the hallways instead of always asking them to stop running or asking them where they should be.
- I will attempt to beautify my campus by providing planters and flowers to each classroom.
