This weekend I decided that I (we) would begin to work the soil. I took a pick ax to it and discovered that it (still) contained a lot of rocks. I had taken some out preciously but there were still a lot. Rock removal is all we did in the garden this weekend. But, now it is all done. Next steps…. add all of the ingredients I bought at City Farmers Nursery. I cannot wait. After that, according to farmer Bill, I have a long while to wait. Three minutes is what he told me the minimum wait time should be. I am so sore from the pick ax and pulling of rocks. But, I know that it will all be worth it.
Authentic Questions
This weekend I went back to City Farmers Nursery to buy the soil amendments that were recommended. The picture above is not the poop, it is compost. I bought 16 bags of it. The other stuff that you see in the back of my truck is everything I need now to start amending my soil. This answers one of my authentic questions, How much will this cost? All of the amendments came to $132.39 and that is just for preparing my dirt. Now to figure out what to plant. These are just some of the many things that are available at City Farmers Nursery. I do plan on having an herb garden. I would like to create something like this raised herb garden. It looks like fun. Plus I need a plan for all the rocks that I keep finding when I dig anywhere on my property.
