I was so impressed by this young man! I began thinking about so many different thing I couldn't keep up with my brain. As a parent I kept thinking, How do I bottle this boy's educational experience? I found myself wanting what this boy has for my own two boys. But, how could I relate hackschooling to their lives, realities, abilities, and desires? I don't know the answer to these questions. As a teacher I wondered how I can still do what is expected of me by my principal, parents, and society while integrating some of this hackschooling concept? I would like to call it true differentiation. I would find a subject matter that makes each student excited and find an experience that would help them connect school with the real world. | I have never been in favor of homeschooling a child who is already struggling socially. I believe that taking a child with social challenges and restricting their contact with the outside world only makes them more socially challenged. I love the idea of hackschooling a child at home though. The pictures that Logan displayed during his presentation show him getting his education out in the community setting. He seems to have ample opportunities to connect with others while learning about something that he is truly interested in. I have been inspired to try this approach with my kids both born to me and not. I am already thinking of the types of questions i will ask them on a google form in order to gain some insight into what their likes are. Now to get parents onboard :| |

I am often skeptical about homeschooling, but it really was amazing to see a thirteen year old boy give such a speech about it. For the most part I was convinced that homeschooling could be a wonderful option if it is well planned. As you had mentioned, I also got very motivated and curious to start something similar with my students and my own child at home. Getting parents on board will be a challenge, but we can always give it a try!!
